Hey guys!
Happy Saturday and Labor Day Weekend!
I've had a craving for pinwheels here lately, so I made some for the first time this last week. I made a batch of Ham Pinwheels as well as a batch of Cheddar Bacon Ranch Pinwheels, which I will be sharing with you tomorrow! I think that I may have liked these Ham Pinwheels better than the others because of the cream cheese, sour cream, and dry ranch mixture. It was really good! I did not refrigerate or freeze them before cutting the pinwheels so most of them did turn out a little messy and not very pretty, but of course they still tasted delicious! I do, however, think that they may have tasted a little better once they had been refrigerated overnight, and I thought that the consistency and firmness made them better as well.
These pinwheels are great to take along to potlucks, make a great appetizer or finger food at a party, or are great to just have as a snack or with your lunch during the week. Have fun!
Servings: 8-10
Time: 15-20 minutes
Ingredients:
8 ounce package of cream cheese (softened)
16 ounces sour cream
1 ounce packet of dry ranch dip mix
1 pound deli ham (sliced thin but not shaved. Do not use honey ham)
8 large flour tortillas
Directions:
1.) In a large bowl, mix together softened cream cheese, sour cream, and dry ranch dip mix. Beat with mixer until no lumps remain.
2.) Put a thin layer of the mixture on a tortilla, being sure not to spread all the way to the edge of tortilla.
3.) Place slices of ham on top. Put one piece in the very middle, then cut other pieces in half to fit around the center piece. Be sure not to go all the way to the edge of tortilla with the ham.
4.) Start to tightly roll the tortilla, keeping all ingredients inside.
5.) Cut rolled tortilla into sections to create pinwheels. Discard the two end pieces.
Optional: Place rolled tortillas in plastic wrap and place in refrigerator or freezer until ready to serve. This makes the pinwheels easier to cut and makes for a nicer presentation if you are wanting them to look good for a potluck or party.
