Chocolate Silk Pie

Hey guys! Hope that you are doing well and that you had a good week! I want to share with you a dessert that everyone in our family loves. It's a recipe from the kitchen of my husband's grandma. It's called Chocolate Silk Pie, and it's AWESOME. She always makes this pie for holidays and family get-togethers. It's that dessert that we always look forward to. Last weekend I decided to give it a try myself. It's actually really simple (if you use a store bought crust) and doesn't take much time to bake. It was my first time making it, and I think that it turned out really good. The only thing that went wrong was that I forgot to cover up the pie crust, which she recommends doing for the entire bake time. So, mine turned out a little too brown. And maybe the pie itself was just a tad over cooked on the top..? Probably. I'm still bad about that with this oven...  There was something just a bit different than how hers usually tastes, but I couldn't real...

Chocolate-Earl Grey Cheesecake

Hey guys! Happy New Year! 2017 is gone, and 2018 is officially here! Here's to hoping that 2018 brings good things our way! 👍 I did make a few changes from the original recipe besides using the Earl-Grey tea. Some on purpose, some not. I accidentally used 8 tablespoons of butter instead of the 6 the recipe calls for. Whoops, but not surprising. I ended up having to add a few more Oreos and powdered sugar to the crust mix. I also ended up with melted butter all in the bottom of my oven because it leaked out of the bottom of the springform pan. The recipe didn't mention this, but I suggest wrapping the entire outside of the pan with heavy-duty aluminum foil to keep the butter from dripping out into your oven! Do this when you bake the crust as well as when you bake the actual cheesecake. I did not have any, so I cooked the cheesecake on a baking sheet after the melted butter fiasco. Also, I did not use tea bags. I instead used loose leaf tea inside of tea infusers. There will...

New York Cheesecake

Hey y'all! This was my first time making a New York Cheesecake from scratch. This Cheesecake is pretty heavy, which is the reason I wanted to make it. Normal cheesecakes are more fluffy, and  I definitely prefer a more dense cheesecake with that sour cream and actual cream cheese taste. It does not have a crust, which I was a little worried about at first, but the filling is the best part anyway (in my opinion), so I went ahead and tried it. It did not disappoint! With a filling this good, who needs a crust anyway?  I ate this on its own, but you could definitely add cherry pie filling or drizzle chocolate on the top. Yum! The recipe below is the original without any changes. The pictures will show the changes that I made with the pans. If the pictures confuse you, just scroll down to the very bottom to see the recipe without them. This recipe called for a springform pan; I ended up using a tube cake pan.  If you've been cooking for a while, you probably already kno...

Dark Chocolate Cranberry Bundt Cake

Hey everyone! I made this Dark Chocolate Cranberry Bundt Cake the weekend after Thanksgiving. IT WAS SO GOOD! I saw this a few times on my Facebook feed and just had to try it. I love dark chocolate, and with the cranberries I knew that it would be delicious. The chocolate ganache and cranberry sauce just give it that little something special. My cranberry sauce turned out on the tart side, but with the sweetness of the cake and the chocolate drizzled on top, it was a perfect combination!  This cake is good enough to eat on its own.  Or you could make the cake and just the ganache. Or make the cake with just the cranberry sauce. Or do all three together, which is of course what I recommend! I followed the recipe exactly on everything except for the ganache. I was out of heavy cream, so I improvised and made my own with 1/2 cup of half-and-half and about 3 tablespoons of butter. I combined these on the stove top in a small saucepan to make my own. I thought that it turned ...
